Postal Sorting Robots

Iran's first postal sorting robot of its type: 80 robots in Tehran and Kermanshah, and a 200-unit third generation.

Generation 1

Iran's first postal sorting robot of its type, built for automated parcel sorting at Iran National Post. We designed and built the first two generations: 50 units for the Chaharrah-e Lashkar distribution center in Tehran and 30 for the Kermanshah center, 80 robots in total. The third-generation design is also mine and went into production as a 200-unit series.

The third generation became lighter, faster and more compact, with a two-level structure — changes that raise the distribution center's throughput and make batch production simpler and cheaper.

My role

Load-discharge mechanism, weighing system, structure and drive system, and the automatic charging system; as head of the mechanical engineering department at Tensor Intelligent Machines, I also coordinated workshops and supervised the assembly and integration team.

Postal Sorting Robots at the 26th Khwarizmi Youth Award

Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST) · 23 Feb 2025

A video screened at the 26th Khwarizmi Youth Award ceremony in the presence of the President, where the project won 2nd place in the applied designs category. Hassan Nasiri Khonsari, mechanical designer of generations one to three, explains the improvements in the third generation: speed raised from 1.1 to 1.8 m/s, weight cut from about 30 to 10 kg, footprint reduced from 70×70 to 55×55 cm, and a two-level structure.

Documentary: Hassan Nasiri Khonsari

Ofogh TV, “Tazeh Nafas” · Aired 5–6 Jun 2024

A documentary on his path, from an early interest in designing and building machines to Sharif University of Technology and industrial projects. It covers the role of Prof. Mohammad Durali and the Creative Workshop of Sharif’s mechanical engineering faculty, and projects such as the postal sorting robots, 3D printers and industrial CNC, and the knee prosthesis constraint and stability test apparatus.
